S2314

20140901_180629

This skirt is the first garment I ever made using a pattern. I choose S2314 because it was the pattern used by Mimi G in her free Sewing 101 course. I was very nervous because I had read on Facebook and Blogs that patterns were tricky. Thankfully with Mimi’s direction on how to select the right size pattern, follow pattern directions and simple way to insert an invisible zipper it was a success. Though next time I can probably go down a size. I HIGHLY recommend following Mimi’s Sewing 101 course to make this skirt if you want to try a pattern for the first time or if you’ve had problems with sizing or following patterns in the past. I promise she will make it simple!

Pattern Sizing: 6-18

Fabric Used: Floral linen (or linen look) from Hancock Fabrics.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? yes. I completed View B

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes very. I also used Mimi G’s Sewing 101 videos to help me as this was my first pattern.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I like that it was a Learn to Sew pattern and that Mimi G had a video tutorial.

Fabric Used: Floral print linen from Hancock.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: As per Mimi G’s instructions I added a lining.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I will probably sew it again in the winter with a heavier fabric. Its a classic and easy to sew skirt.

Conclusion: Simple, but cute little skirt that is quick to whip up.
