I was glad to accept Eryn’s invite to participate in this blog tour. Eryn is the fashion, sewing and lifestyle blogger behind SewStyleMe. If you don’t follow her already, you should! This Anitra Jumpsuit* is her latest pattern release. This jumpsuit features a dramatic drop crotch gathered pant, wide neckline, elastic waist and side pockets.
Though I love Eryn and her designs, I have to admit was skeptical of this pattern at first. I mean come on… a drop crotch? As someone who grew up during the 90’s this was a trend I never wanted to see make a comeback. LOL Sure she was rocking it but she has height on her side, would it work for someone 5’ 5”. Yup, it sure does!
This jumpsuit is both stylish and comfy! It’s like a pajama onesie you can wear in public with pride instead of shame (please never wear an actual pajama onesie outside of your house lol). Just pull it on, pair with some heeled sandal, open toe booties or even sneakers and top off some accessories for a day of errands or a girls lunch. I love the gathered wrap leg, the pockets and the ability to wear it off the shoulder.
After trying it on as designed I decided it was a tad too baggy for me in the back so I did do a small adjustment to the back pant pattern piece. I pulled out my seam ripper, removed the inner leg seam from one front side seam to the other and laid the jumpsuit out flat, inside out with the front facing up. Then I just shifted the front pants piece up about 3 inches in the center tapering out evenly back to the front side seam. This gave me the effect that I wanted.
The instructions were clear despite non typical pant construction, but if you get confused just tune into the accompanying video tutorial. I managed to knock this out over a long weekend, only needing an extra day to tweak the back crotch area. I used an army green slub rayon jersey knit that I had been holding on to for a different jumpsuit pattern. I’m glad I used it for this project because this jumpsuit will likely get more wear than my original plan.
This pattern is great sewn as is, but for even more variety I think a few simple modifications could give this already stand out jumpsuit a different look. I debated modifying the bodice to make a wrap top, changing the armscye to create a tank top bodice, even a tube top bodice would work!
In the end I don’t mind admitting when I am wrong and I was wrong about the drop crotch. This jumpsuit makes it modern and stylish. I ran out to the grocery store after photographing this outfit and received compliments.

Pattern: Style Sew Me Anitra Jumpsuit*
Pattern Description: Anitra is all about style and comfort. This loose-fitting jumpsuit features a wide neckline (but not to wide to expose bra straps) using your favorite light to medium weight knit. She is a pull-up style with an elastic waist and gathered pant and side pockets. The pant design is a fresh combination of wrap and harem-style for ultimate comfort and style.
Sizing: XS-XXL, I sewed a large but I think a medium would have worked as well.
Difficulty: 2/easy
Fabric Used: Army Green slub rayon jersey from a local store
Does it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope? Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes and there’s a video tutorial as well
Likes: draped legs, wide neck, loose fit
Dislikes: The drop crotch drops a tad too low for me. You can purchase this
Pattern alterations or any design changes made: I removed about 3″ from the center back pant piece tapering back out to the leg seam.
Would I sew it again? Yes, possibly with a contrast bodice pant like Adrienne M Nixon’s version
Would I recommend it to others? Definitely, great beginners project.
Conclusion: Comfy, stylish jumper
